15 Years of Photography Experience

My photography journey began in 2011, working for a corporate photography company where I gained hands-on experience photographing families and children and developed a real passion for capturing meaningful moments.

In 2014, I launched Sophie-Lou Photography, initially specialising in baby and children’s photography. Over the years, the business has grown to include newborn, maternity, cake smash and family photography from our Essex studio, alongside weddings, events and commercial photography.

From Family Photography to Weddings

In 2016, I photographed my very first wedding and instantly fell in love with everything about wedding photography.

Since then, weddings have become a huge part of Sophie-Lou Photography. Today, my husband Ashley works alongside me as a second photographer and videographer, allowing us to offer wedding photography and videography across Essex and throughout the UK.

Having worked in photography since 2011 means I've experienced everything from unpredictable little ones in the studio to changing weather, tricky lighting and fast-moving wedding days. Our experience allows us to stay calm, adapt and keep things relaxed so you can simply enjoy the moment.

Our Photography Style

Our wedding photography style combines light, airy and romantic portraiture with natural documentary photography.

We'll gently guide you when needed for those beautiful couple portraits and family photographs, but for much of your day, we're capturing things naturally as they happen – the laughter, happy tears, little glances, dance-floor moments and all the details you've spent so long planning.

We don't want your wedding day to feel like one long photoshoot. We want you to enjoy your day while we tell the story through your photographs and film.

An Experienced Husband & Wife Team

Working together as a husband-and-wife team means we know exactly how one another works. While I'm concentrating on one moment, Ashley can be capturing another perspective through photography or film, helping us tell a more complete story of your day.

Although we're Essex-based wedding photographers and videographers, we regularly travel across the UK for our couples. For many weddings further from home, we'll even stay close to your venue the night before so we're nearby, prepared and ready for your day.

From the tiniest newborn details to the moment you walk down the aisle, after all these years I still genuinely love what I do – and it's an incredible privilege to be trusted to capture memories that will be looked back on for generations.
